These are some of the people and groups who are very close to our hearts. Many provide information on aspects of adoption, rescue, and animal care. All are organizations we support and admire. Please visit them--and your own local rescues and shelters--and do all you can to help them continue their good work. Kitty Cottage ~ The wonderful no-kill, cage-free shelter in Blue Bell, PA. It's a home filled with sofas, cat-trees and terrific volunteers. AND a bevy of fantastic kitties, waiting for their forever-homes! Please visit--you might decide that the cat draped across the back of one of the Cottage's chairs would look INFINITELY better on the furniture at your house! Northeast Animal Rescue ~ Heroically performing life-saving work in and around northeast Philadelphia, NAR is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit practicing TNR, protecting, fostering and placing adoptable cats in loving homes (including our most-beloved Percy in ours!). Please visit the NAR kitties at PetSmart, Haldeman Avenue & Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA. Alley Cat Allies ~ National organization working to help feral and stray cats. ACA is an incredible resource for objective information on feral cats and TNR programs, and a source of help--and hope--for feral-caregivers across the country. Please visit their site; learn more about stray and feral cats, and how TNR helps these animals--homeless through no fault of their own; wild because they've been forced to shed domestication in order to survive--live healthier, happier lives while reducing feral populations through spaying and neutering. Please help ACA to help these special animals. The Spayed Club ~ An amazing group of volunteers helping to end the pain caused by pet-overpopulation through education and low-cost spay/neuter programs. Their work is invaluable, and has aided countless numbers of people and their pets. See their website for contact information and for details on this vital program. Homeless ~ A profoundly moving video created by "It's Meow or Never," a rescue group that's working to build an animal sanctuary in Florida. PLEASE TURN YOUR SPEAKERS ON AND CONNECT TO THIS SITE. It's a beautiful, powerful testament to the struggles of homeless animals everywhere. Please watch. And listen. And feel. Spay and Save ~ An all-volunteer non-profit group working to provide help and care to animals and their people through foster and adoption, information, and barn-cat placement services, as well as through low-cost spay/neuter programs. They are devoted and tireless. Please visit some of their adoptable cats at Petco, 45 W Dekalb Pike, King of Prussia, PA, and Petco 181 Lancaster Avenue, Malvern, PA. Columbus House Rabbit Society ~ Sadly, cats and dogs are not the only companion animals who face the hardship of abandonment. Animals of every description are acquired and discarded with alarming frequency; this very much includes rabbits. In addition to their wonderful work in rabbit rescue, CHRS is the driving force behind Make Mine Chocolate! , an innovative campaign to help end the practice of purchasing live rabbits as Easter gifts. Far too many of these animals end up in shelters across the country on a daily basis, and the problem increases exponentially after the Easter holidays. In addition to lots of terrific information, the Make Mine Chocolate! site offers "The Interactive Bun," a collection of games and questions to help determine if a rabbit is the right pet for you. It's a wonderful tool, and is in keeping with a GREAT campaign and a terrific group of people. Please visit and support them! Harnessed
to Hope ~ An all-volunteer rescue dedicated to Siberian Huskies,
Samoyeds, Malamutes
